The MAYA Principle
MAYA (Most Advanced, Yet Acceptable) helps to create products or services that provide enough of what people already use (familiarity) and understand, with enough new features that are easy to adopt.
How to follow MAYA
· Recognize what templates people are most familiar with
· Your new design is simple and clean. There’s no learning curve
· Your new design adds so much value that it’s worth a small learning curve
Making too many changes that don’t follow the above rules will only result in confusing users and adding to their cognitive load.
